My Stay at Gomez Auto Repair On September 15, 2016 I went to Gomez Auto Repair located in Lindsay, CA. 614 Honolulu to do my job shadow for our senior projects. I job shadowed Rafael Alvarez when I got there because he was the only person available for the job shadow. I chose Gomez Auto Repair because I thought it was something that I would like to do when I'm older. Throughout the day Mr. Alvarez showed me how to dismantle an engine on a car and how to put it back together. He also showed me the most important parts of the engine, like what makes it turn, on what helps prevent the engine from overheating, and he also showed me how to change the oil on a car. After that Mr. Alvarez also named all of the tools and equipment used in the shop, and demonstrated the purpose for most of the ones that I didn't know what they were used for. During my visit to Gomez Auto Repair I learned that car parts are not cheap and neither the labor. I also learned that the cars that are unfixable or totalled are sold for there parts or for scrap metal, or they are sold to junk yards where they are re sold there. The thing I liked about it was that you get paid good money and that everyday is a new challenge you get to face. I also liked the fact that you get to work as a team on a car if necessary, and just the whole working environment seems like a lot of fun to work in. In the end I was still very interested in working as a mechanic for many reasons, one reason is because it is something I would like to do but “the only thing difficult about this job would be is the electronics and wiring” as Mr. alvarez said. Another reason I am still interested is because it seems like a fun environment to work in. |
